What is a
Community Pastor?
Community Pastor?
A Community Pastor is a local Christian volunteer, passionate about serving their local community. They will be a member of a local church for at least one year and must be recommended by their church leaders. They can come from any denomination and love the idea of local Christians working together to serve you.
A Community Pastor has to complete a wide range of training courses before being commissioned. Modules cover physical, emotional and spiritual issues with diverse topics including first aid, drugs awareness, mental health issues, safeguarding, listening skills or spiritual counselling. All will have passed a DBS check.
A Community Pastor is dedicated to serve you without judgement, regardless of colour, culture or creed and with the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.
You’ll find a Community Pastor serving where it matters; in our schools; on our streets; at our community events; on our railways; in our stadiums. Whether you need a bit of help to get you home safely, are exploring the meaning of life, or just want to offload to a listening ear, look out for their friendly light blue uniform. They are there for you.

Pastors love to partner
As a project with a community focus, we always happy to work in collaboration with other local initiatives and projects, both statutory and voluntary. We believe the church has an important role to play, working alongside police and local council to make our town a safer and better place to live.
What does 'pastor' mean?
We believe in the Christian principle of ‘faith in action’; that Christianity is not restricted to what goes on in our churches, but should be having a positive impact on the world around us. The word 'pastor' is not just another name for a vicar or minister. The original Greek means “one who feeds the flock” - a shepherd - and carries with it a strong sense of caring.
